The Premiership Is Upside Down
By: MoonPig | March 7th, 2008For most people the season is hotting up… It’s FA Cup quarter finals weekend, UEFA cup places, champions league places – even relegation places are up for grabs and yet for Derby County fans, the season effectively ended sometime between Bolton grabbing a crazy injury time winner and snatching defeat from the jaws of victory against Blackburn Rovers.

It’s been a long season. And it just. Won’t. End. I’ve been watching Derby for as long as I can remember and although I’ve seen worse teams and worst performances from lots of clubs (honestly), I definitely challenge anyone to show me a more wretched season…
We earned a point last weekend against Sunderland and I’m fully expecting to build on “our unbeaten run” against Chelsea next Saturday and Man Utd the Saturday after (*AHEM*). That’s the premiership for you. Just one easy fixture after another.
Despite the nightmare that is our season, there are still positives that only Derby fans can see.
Paul Jewell – One of the best managers going… If anyone can perform CPR on our club, he can.
American Owners – Who promise to do things the “Randy Lerner way”, not the “Hicks and Gillett way”.
I’ll be blogging my way through the rest of this never ending season, and the Championship next season too. Unless God (exists and) really is a Derby County fan and somehow keeps us in the Prem’.
Cheers.

Welcome!
As for more wretched seasons, the one that Derby’s is reminding me of is Swindon Town’s season in the top flight.

Welcome. Good to know that you’re committed to blogging about Derby regardless of their fate, because you’re right – they’re headed down. Hopefully, the management will do some good long term thinking and you’ll be back up in a few seasons. Still some honor left to play for, and of course, time left to play spoiler. Grab a draw against one of the big boys and spoil their chances.
