Excuse me for not posting a match preview but got caught up in a mix and only came back when the match was about to start. Who would have guessed it yes as usual I was following the scoreline on the BBC, and in the early stages when the scoreline read 2-0 I switched of my pc and went straight to bed.

Besides being a local derby the match had a few interesting facts, Derby county were going to face Nottingham Forest going up the Brian Clough way a street the manager’s father is named after, to face a team the manager got his name by,(he is the second highest all time goal scorer there) and a team his father coached back in the day. And on the city ground non-other than Billy Davis former derby coach that gained promotion is at the helm there…….weird.

The match besides being a rivalry match had an added incentive one which the winner will then go on to host Manchester united besides being a ticket spinner it was a cracker of a match,and a chance at revenge for us, so a win was the only frame of mind going in the match.

The early stages didnt provide any real team domination from either side, but it did provide two early goals against us.
Lewin Nyatanga made a rare start in defence for the Rams, replacing the injured Miles Addison with jay McEveley on left back, the line up looked something like this:

Nottingham forest were without many first team regulars such as Rob Earnshaw, and had plenty of kids on the bench just to fill up space.

A Nottingham Forest corner came in early and derby failed to defend sufficiently and the ball fell graciously to Chris Cohen who had one thing on his mind and a shot in a crowded penalty box gained a deflection and into the net with Bywater having no chance 1-0 down with just 1 minute on the clock.

Tyson got a sweet ball and ran into the derby box and got triped by Bywater resulting in the keeper earning himself a yellow card and a penalty, which Tyson slammed in. 2-0 down and derby county players were looking at themselves.

They needed a response and got it in the 27th minute Robbie Savage gave a sweet pass to the left onto gary teal who crossed it into the box for rob hulse who had a free header 2-1.

Derby county shifted gear and moved forward, but could only continue after the half time period were they got a major inspiration from nigel and the boys took off were they left off -in the front foot of things.-

Derby’s determination was duely paid as our player Rob green in the 60th minute hit a belter that took a deflection and looped in the net the boo boys were stunned and silenced 2-2 now to go for the win.

Derby was by far on top of thing winning every 50-50 and every corner. In the 74th minute the roof went of the city ground as Kris Kommons scored the winner against his former team to send them crashing out of the FA cup, the best match of the night a good team performance a the side is looking good game by game if we take these type’s of performances into the league it will be not be long till we find ourself in a decent league position and hope for promotion next season,

So the club rightfully put out a round up of all the tranfer dealings that happened in the january window, not an interesting read but definitely a good report on, so with the whole window closed and all the ramblings and absurd transfers happening(keane) upstairs(EPL) and all we have so far seen one body get in here through the door at pride side in the form of chris porter, and no less than eight exits altogether first and lower teams.

The list and exit routes:

Andrejs Pereplotkins – loan cancelled
Darren Powell – released at end of contract(useless)
Aleksander Prijovic – loaned to Yeovil Town
Giles Barnes – loaned to Fulham
Claude Davis – loaned to Crystal Palace
Lewis Price – loaned to Luton Town
Mo Camara – contract terminated ( no surprise there)
Seb Hines – end of loan

With this much players heading out of pride park I am forcasting a huge influx of players coming in the summer window hopefully competent ones who are willing to fight for the cause,and earn their wages.
Future starting to look bright at long last, it can start to look even brighter with a total demolition of nottingh*m forrest, and maybe a bashing of that dickweed earnshaw’s head in.

Nigel seems to be wielding his power now

The first and looks like the last signing derby got through the door is as we speculated in an earlier post non other than motherwell’s Chris porter, the 25 year old striker has signed a two and a half year deal as is highly rated by the manager he went on to say:

He has a proven track record of scoring goals and has tremendous physical attributes.

“Hopefully he will have a positive impact for us between now and the end of the season.

“We have some good competition for places now with the forwards and that can only be good news for us going forward.”

Well striker will not be a position I will prioritise in this team but obviously the manager think’s otherwise. I would rather bring in a backup creative midfielder,
one wonder’s what has ever happened to villa,and why is he on the team and why wasn’t he offloaded in the window? I don’t have news about him but well…
WELCOME CRIS AND MAY YOU SCORE PLENTY OF GOALS FOR US…..

Hoooraahhh a win looong overdue but couldn’t come any sooner and Nigel tastes his first win at the helm and 1 of many we hope the lads played well and picked up 3 points nothing anymore a fan could ask from his team, big things gonna start happening starting from here somehow I have this feeling.

So late posts due to the fact internet is still very unreliable here in Africa, but hey I online now do hooray once again.

The line up was no surprise as Nigel played his trusted card’s and they so duly delivered. As I will state once again it is difficult for me to give my own personal opinion about a match I couldn’t watch because the damn TV network’s just don’t give championship fans a break.

But as I scrolled through the webpage nervously looking for my beloved team’s results I found that we won WON WON,grand.

The scores on our side was kris kommons and rob hulse but it was a very good all round team performance and really gave the crowd their money’s worth.

Short post to day,We are in the bottom three and face a tricky home test against Coventry city tomorrow night. our recent form hasn’t been good of late but I won’t go into detail about that all that is sure is we need the three point’s to pull ourselves out the bottom three.

Jay McEveley has recovered from his shoulder injury after taking part in a behind the doors game,and training normaly and might come on from the bench. A big sigh of relief is that our current
joint top goal scorer (3 league,6 cups)Nathan ellington is back to the squad after shaking of a groin and hamstring niggle, it would be good to partner him with Rob Hulse in front just to increase our chances of scoring some goals.

oventry are currently are currently 14th on the table,and having a up and down they lost Wednesday match against Cardiff at home and really look to get something from this match.

There is no team sheet yet for the match for our team and the game won’t be covered again -sigh- so I will see were I can get match reviews to the game.

We hope our boys can get three point’s tomorrow, as we wouldn’t want another loss at home after the embarrasing loss at home last time out and,we hope Nigel can put out a strong side.

As it was said on the main site by Nigel, Giles Barnes is set to make a loan switch to a “unknown” premier league side, it was later revealed by a source that the side is non-other than fulham. Giles fantastic display against manchester united at old trafford coming from the bench and scoring twice has won him several attention from premier league clubs,but it’s Roy Hogson’s who make the first move.

Giles has never hidden his ambition to play in the premier league, he is one of the best players at the club this moment and it will be sad to lose him since he will add quality to the side but thats how it goes in the championship, soon as you have a good player bigger clubs come swooping not that fulham a bigger club than us but you get what I mean.

Nigel said:

“Giles has made it clear he wants to play in the Premier League again and this is a great opportunity for him to do that.

“It’s something that came up yesterday and I am comfortable to give the player the chance to speak to them.

“To be honest it is a very good deal for all parties involved and I wouldn’t have agreed to it if I didn’t believe it was in the best interests of Derby County.

“Giles is a terrific lad with a big future ahead of him and we all wish him well if the deal goes ahead.”

How it’s a good for us only he will know since quite honestly in my own humble opinion Giles will look to make the deal permanent. -sigh-

He also spoke about bringing in a new striker to the squad a late late buy to be honest but with a goal drought such as ours we need all the help upfront we can get as long as it’s decent buy by the way.

He added:

“We are also looking to add to the squad at the moment and we are hoping to get a striker in.

“The chairman is dealing with it but we hope it will be a very good piece of business if we can get it concluded.”

Well not too bad,although if according to reports it’s motherwell’s Chris Porter i think we can do better

I saw a story somewhere in the papers that newcastle of all teams are looking to get Kris Kommons you might remember his belter against Man Utd as a replacement for the ineffective Duff, Why any player would go to newcastle in this point in time only god knows,so ill take that story as a paper filler and really nothing but hot air.

Some good news one of our better players Stephen Pearson is recovering from a knee injury and is in the final stages of recovery.He made a 30 minute cameo appearance against aston villa in a behind doors little friendly played yesterday. He injured his knee back in september at the home draw against birmingham city.

Luck appears to be on our side in the injury front as defender jay McEveley also took part in the friendly match,He suffered a shoulder injury at charlton during his loan spell there but it’s good to have him onboard.

OH we won the match 2-1.
